Leave it to Texas to have a hellacious week as we had! So, our school cancels on Tues., but decides we need to go to afternoon classes yesterday, excuse me, have they lost their minds!! Laura and I did not go because we still couldn't get out of our driveway. So, we had a two days at school this week like the last two weeks. If this doesn't stop soon, I am going to get to use to it!! Hehehe! I have turned in my first official assignment for the semester, so we will cross our fingers and hope and pray that I am off to a good start this semester. I am already struggling with senoritis! I see the light at the end of the tunnel, but it is still a little to far away!
Here is some great news: Laura found her best friend from childhood on Facebook and they have been communicating off and on all day. How exciting! Also, we found out she lives in our favorite state of Colorado and so over spring break we may go and visit her.
Laura and I have decided that for our graduation presents to one another we will take a 10 day cruise in December that leaves 2 days after we graduate. We will return to Florida on Christmas Eve, so we are going to spend Christmas at Disney World. How awesome. I can't wait!
Oh, oh, I almost forgot to share that I got my belated Christmas present from Laura and it is my Coach purse and wallet that I have been wanting. She received a Coach wallet and Nike Shock Tennis Shoes. That was fun!
Hope everyone has had a great first month of the year!

First week of school is completed
Whew! The first week of school is complete! It is so hard to get back in the grind of school, but I am one week closer to graduation in December! My internship has been so incredible. I had the opportunity to sit in on my first group on Wed. This was an incredible group. It is a survivors group so all the members had great stories and were so receptive to me coming and sitting in. I have been blessed with the opportunity to facilitate this group, probably starting in late February and doing a 6 to 8 week series with them. This blows my mind because I am only an undergraduate student and not many get the chance to say that they are facilitating a group. Also, I have been asked to go on a couple's retreat at the end of March and facilitate some groups there as well. The other huge blessing in this is that they told me they would love for my wife to come as well and be a volunteer that weekend. So, we will get to retreat as well! I am so lucky that in this internship I get to be who I truly am, but get to learn from others passions that lie within my heart. I am truly blessed and can't help but smile everyday, because I have such a wonderful gift in my life that is helping me find where my hear truly stands.

What an exciting journey I am embarking on!
I have been blessed with the opportunity to take a Counseling Internship in my psychology degree and God placed me at Cancer Care Services. This is an incredible non-profit group in Tarrant County and in the 6 days that I have already been there I have been touched so much. I never knew people actually cared about other people like I have seen at this place. We are dealing with people who might be at the end of their lives, may be at the beginning of new journey, may be in the middle of a journey, or may be a survivor. Some of these stories tug on heart strings, but the way we are able to help people and ease some of their worries is absolutely incredible. I know that i was placed in this internship; however, to prove that if I could take on one of the ugliest things life can throw at someone, I can take on anything that is thrown at me. I thank God for this opportunity and I am very excited to see where the journey takes me!

A New Year is Upon Us
Happy New Year! What a blessed year 2008 was and I can only imagine how blessed 2009 will be. God has put me in a precarious place to begin 2009. Laura and I do not currently have a church home (technically), but He has opened so many doors to different churches and so we are on a journey of discovering what He truly wants us to see and learn. Talk about having to walk with your eyes wide open and your ears wide open as well!! I am so excited about what God is going to do in the upcoming year, not only for me and my family, but for those around us.
I feel so blessed because things are changing all around me and I know that is only because of obedience to God and letting Him lead instead of me. I am such a control freak that letting go of the reigns and saying here God you have complete control is very difficult for me, but I am trying!! It does say in the bible if you take one step He will take two (me paraphrasing of course), but I have truly seen that recently in my own life.
My prayers for 2009 are for prosperity, blessings, peace, joy, love, and bliss for all of those around me and my family!
